It's hard to overestimate the power of customer reviews in today's economy. Nothing sways us more than social proof, especially in a time of abundance and choice paralysis. So when Site Reviews asked us to refresh their brand, we knew it’d be interesting.
As the top player in the hotly contested WordPress review plugin market, they needed a brand with more appeal and standout. We agreed it had to be personable, approachable and friendly. A brief practically begging for a mascot.
Real human reviews are emotive and often hilarious
Customer reviews might be one of the world’s biggest untapped sources of humour. Wildly emotional, sometimes helpful, quite often useless or confusing, the humble customer review is a bastion of humanity in an increasingly robotic web.
Tapping into that humanity and humour for the Site Reviews brand was a no-brainer. The brand language draws on the humour hidden within reviews while gently spotlighting their influence. A friendly visual style backs it up with punchy colours and playful illustration.

Like any tech product, the brand needed to flex enough to speak to features and benefits with confidence and clarity. So, as the final piece of the puzzle, we introduced an illustration system that let us tackle technicality in a friendly, approachable way without losing credibility.
